Our client, DEFA North America Inc., is hiring for a well-established Sales professional looking for a new adventure with a global organization on the forefront of automotive electrification technologies.

The products and services improve the way people charge and preheat their vehicles and light up their buildings or roads.

As the European market leader in electrical preheating, DEFA, has secured agreements with all major automotive OEMs, and launched their line of no-idle charging and heating systems in Canada! Due to strong relationships with the car importers and manufacturers in Europe, the same distribution channels are secured in this new region.

The Key Account Sales Manager will be primarily responsible for driving DEFA sales activities in the new central Canadian region by building new customer relationships (car dealerships, auto groups etc.) in uncovered parts of the region and tight follow up of large base of existing customers. The successful candidate will be ideally located in Winnipeg or surrounding area. The position will require a heavy amount of travel (50%) within Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Northwestern Ontario.

What the Key Account Sales Manager does:
  • Develop yearly tactics, sales plans, sales & cost budget within given margin targets
  • Ensure the overall sales are in accordance to defined plans
  • Identify and report business opportunities in target markets and ensure maximizing the results of these business opportunities
  • Manage own sales, information, and follow-up of customers according to defined sales process and DEFA standard:
  • Work and build relationships with stakeholders
  • Evaluate projects (target, potential, probability)
  • Prepare and follow up of tenders
  • Ensure CRM system is updated with offers/projects and customer information
  • Ensure follow up of all projects and closing deals with customer
  • Support customers
  • Directly manage key accounts with main customers such as single dealer and auto group, larger national sales companies, and other main customers in the automotive sales channel within the defined region/area.
  • Represent the business at conferences, trade fairs and networking events
What the successful candidate will bring:
  • Bachelor’ s degree – Business or Engineering preferred
  • Minimum 5 years sales/marketing experience, ideally from the Automotive industry
  • Proven experience creating sales strategies and delivering results
  • Strong business acumen, understanding of financial tools, and ability to quickly evaluate business cases
  • Strong technical understanding
  • Experience in leading and coaching sales teams is an advantage
  • Negotiation skills on management level
